NEWBERRY, S.C. – Carson-Newman (4-3, 0-1 SAC) women's tennis team lost 8-1 at Newberry (5-3, 1-0 SAC) Saturday afternoon.
"Hats off to Newberry," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said. "We just got outplayed today."
Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) contributed the Eagles' lone point at no. 6 singles. She defeated Marina Ziehe 6-2, 6-0.
At no. 3 singles, Jennifer Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) fought hard before falling 8-6 to Ariel Strong and Tara Lamers.
The Eagles continue conference play at Mars Hill Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m.
