Brown wins 10th straight singles match in Eagles’ 8-1 loss to Wingate

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (8-7, 2-3 SAC) women's tennis team fell 8-1 to Wingate (12-4, 4-0 SAC) this afternoon.

 

"We were outplayed today by Wingate in most every position," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said. "Hats off to them."

 

Junior Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) secured the Eagle's lone point at no. 5 singles with a 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 final over Morgan Winston. Brown has now won 10 consecutive singles matches.

 

Senior Stefy Stand (Ecuador) battled at no. 2 singles before dropping a 6-4, 6-3 contest to Caroline Holland. Freshman Breanne Tremblay (Canada) was fought hard against Becca Thomas in the no. 3 spot, but ultimately lost 6-4, 6-2.

 

Tremblay and Stand teamed up at no. 2 doubles for an exciting match. The match resulted 9-7 in favor of Layla Tanik and Tiffany Williams.

 

C-N hosts Reinhardt tomorrow at 1 p.m.
