Lady Eagles prepare for SAC foe Coker

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (7-5, 1-1 SAC) women's tennis team hosts Coker (0-8, 0-3 SAC) Friday at 3 p.m. at the Carson-Newman Tennis Complex.

"Coker is a big conference match for us," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said. "We need to get off to a good start in the doubles."

The Eagles are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Alabama-Huntsville last Tuesday.

Jennifer Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) picked up C-N's only point in doubles play in the no. 3 position. The duo is now on a five match win streak.

In singles play, Breanne Tremblay (Canada), Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) and Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) contributed three more points to C-N for a score of 5-4 in favor of UAH.

Brown is currently on a seven game winning streak.

The Cobras lost 8-1 to GRU Augusta on Tuesday. Their lone point was provided by Jessi Campos at no. 1 singles with a 7-5, 6-3 final.

"We need to be ready," Coach Love said, "to play smart tennis."
