Lady Eagles toppled by Tusculum

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (9-8, 2-4 SAC) women's tennis team was overpowered by Tusculum (15-1, 6-0 SAC) in a 6-3 contest earlier this afternoon.

 

The team of Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) and Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) roped in the Eagles' only point in doubles play. The duo defeated Emily Waters and Amanda Sumber 8-5 at no. 2.

 

In the no. 1 doubles spot, Stefy Stand (Ecuador) and Breanne Tremblay (Canada) battled to an 8-5 decision in favor of Kate Hutchinson and Kealee Heffner.

 

Stand contributed a point for C-N at no. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 final over Sarah Baker. At no. 6 singles, Jennifer Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) dominated Sumner 6-3, 6-4.

 

Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) retired her match at no. 1 singles to Erin Mills.

 

The Eagles continue conference at Mars Hill tomorrow at 2 p.m.
