Lady Eagles fall to North Georgia

WOODSTOCK, Ga. – The Carson-Newman (9-12) women's tennis team lost 7-2 to North Georgia (9-9) earlier this afternoon.

 

The team of Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) and Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) contributed a point for the Eagles in doubles play. The duo defeated Audrey Marlette/Nela Handac 9-7 in the no. 3 spot.

 

The Eagles went into singles play trailing by one. At no. 1 singles, Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) fought hard against Cameron Williams. Guerreiro was overpowered, and Williams stole a 7-6 (6-0), 7-5 decision.

 

In the no. 6 position, Haleigh Chastain (Knoxville, Tenn.) dropped a three-setter to Alexis Lee 4-6, 7-5, 10-9.

 

Brown provided the Eagles' second point at no. 5 singles toppling Adalyn Hazelman 6-2, 7-6 (4-0). She is currently on a 14 match winning streak.

 

The Eagles head to Anderson Friday at 2 p.m. to resume conference play.
