Lady Eagles take on Chargers at home

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (4-2) women's tennis prepares to host the University of Alabama-Huntsville (1-1) tomorrow at 1 p.m.

"UAH will be a tough opponent for both the men and women," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said. "It will help prepare us for conference play."

The Lady Eagles are coming off a big win 7-2 against Lee University Tuesday afternoon. C-N swept the flames in doubles play. The duo of Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) and Jennifer Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) are now on a five-match win streak. Guerreiro extended her solo win streak to four.

Stefy Stand (Ecuador), Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) and Brianne Tremblay also contributed singles points.

"We are going to stay focused on the process of doing the little things it takes to get better," Coach Love said. "Each individual and each doubles team is committed to this approach."

UAH lost 9-0 to no. 7 West Florida last Sunday.

Last season, the Eagles fell 8-1 in Huntsville. Guerreiro stole the lone point for C-N at no. 2 singles with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 decision over Katie Bryant.

"This is another opportunity," Coach Love said, "for us to get better and learn about ourselves."

The match begins at 1 p.m. at the Carson-Newman Tennis Complex.
