HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (9-10, 2-6 SAC) was defeated 6-3 by Lincoln Memorial (8-6, 5-4 SAC) earlier this afternoon.
The Railsplitters swept the Eagles in doubles play. The team of Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) and Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) put up a good fight at no. 3, but ultimately fell 9-7 to Aura Penalosa and Priscilla Bulandres.
Sanderson and Brown each earned a point in singles play. Sanderson took down Roksolana Prudyvus in the no. 4 spot 6-4, 6-1. At no. 5, Brown overcame Alexandra Granger 6-0, 6-3 for her 13th consecutive singles victory.
Haleigh Chastain (Knoxville, Tenn.) provided the Eagles' third point at no. 6 singles with after a hard fought three setter against Penalosa. The match ended 3-6, 6-2, 12-10.
The Lady Eagles continue conference play at Queens tomorrow at 2 p.m.
