COLUMBUS, Ga. - After another exceptional day from Jonathan Nielsen, the Carson-Newman Eagles will come home from Columbus in a tie for fifth.
The C-N group finished the two-day tournament with a collective 25 over par score. Once again, Jonathan Nielsen led the scoring for the Eagles with a three-over round three, bringin his total for the week to 211.
A few strokes behind Nielsen were teammates Will Collins and Elliot MacGregor, who finished tied for 20th at 218 a piece. MacGregor shot for par in round three, while Collins finished round three one stroke under par.
Jake Mynatt's six-over day brought his total to 219, which was good enough to tie him for 28th. Competing as an individual, Jackson Tyler turned in a three-over day for a tie at 34th. Zach Young wrapped up the scoring for the Eagles with an eight-over third round, tying him for 56th.
Head coach Randy Wylie was overall pleased with the results from his guys and believes the group can build off their performances headed into the fall. "This was a good way to start the year against some really tough competition" Wylie said. "Most of the teams in the field this week were ranked. Jonathan had his first top 10 which is fantastic, and Will Collins had a clutch 69 today. We're ready for next week."
