INDIANPOLIS, Ind. - After recording a third place finish at their first spring event of the year, the Carson-Newman men's golf team finds themselves at fourth in the Golfstat rankings that were announced on Wednesday, Mar. 2
The Eagles moved up three spots from the previous weeks' poll where they were selected as seventh. Carson-Newman is the highest ranked team in the SAC, passing now no. 7 LMU, and ahead of no. 13 Limestone.
Individually, Jonathan Nielsen enters the top-10, ranked as the sixth best Division-II golfer in the country. Nielsen has an average round score right at one-under par this season and finished third this week at the Hurricane Invitational with a four-under 212.
Teammate Alex Hodge sits at 44th in the country. Hodge finished tied for 23rd at the Hurricane Invitational with a three-over 219.
After a solid week in Albany, Will Collins cracks the top-100 at 88th in the Division-II rankings. Collins recorded his first top-10 finish in almost three years this week, finishing tied for seventh with a two-under 212.
Jake Mynatt and Jackson Tyler are also ranked inside the top-100, with Mynatt at 95th and Tyler at 98th. Mynatt helped lead the Eagles to a top three finish at the Hurricane Invitational, recording five straight birdies and an eagle in the first round.
Evan Thompson of North Georgia sits in first as the number one individual golfer, while Barry holds on to first place in the team rankings.
