Eagles wrap up fall with trip to Atlanta

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Coming off a huge win in Queens, Carson-Newman men's golf will close out its impressive fall schedule with a trip to Atlanta to compete in the Southern Tide Intercollegiate.

Prior to taking home the first place spot in the Queens Invitational, the first two matches of the season saw the Eagles record some historic individual performances by the likes of Jonathan Nielsen (Hørsholm, Denmark) and Jake Mynatt. The C-N starting five was able to record finishes inside the top five at each of the first two tournaments, finishing tied for fifth in Columbus and coming home third from Valdosta.

In Queens, Carson-Newman's scoring was led by Alex Hodge. Hodge shot an even 71 with two birdies on the day. His three-round total of 204 was good enough to tie him for fifth place.

The Eagles look to use some of the momentum they have gained in their first three events to make a splash at the upcoming Southern Tide Intercollegiate.

This is the first time that Randy Wylie's team has been to Atlanta National Golf Club, and the trip down south will be anything but a cake walk for the Eagles. Every team in the field set for this week is ranked inside the top 25 in the nation. Wylie and the C-N squad hope to use the stacked field to their advantage and make a strong showing.
