INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After a second place finish at the Bearcat Golf Classic, the Carson-Newman men's golf team moved up one spot to third in all of Division-II according to the new Golfstat rankings released on Wednesday, Mar. 9.

Carson-Newman remains as the highest ranked team in the SAC, edging out fourth ranked Lincoln Memorial  and ahead of 13th ranked Limestone and top-25 newcomer Queens. 

The Eagles also rank first in the NCAA Southeast Regional poll and sixth nationally in the Bushnell/Golfweek coaches poll. 

Individually, Jonathan Nielsen is up one spot to number five in the country. The sophomore finished third individually at the Bearcat Golf Classic with a three-round score of a six-under 210. It is the third straight event that Nielsen has finished inside the top-three and the second straight event he has finished in third place. 

Teammate Alex Hodge sits at 75th in the country. Hodge finished tied for 42nd at the Bearcat Golf Classic and was one of 14 players to shoot an eagle at the three-round event at the Greenwood Country Club.

Jackson Tyler moved up ten spots in the individual rankings to 88th in the country. Tyler finished tied for 29th with a four-over 220 three round score in Greenwood.

Jake Mynatt moves up three spots in the national rankings to 92nd. After finishing day one in Greenwood tied for 35th, Mynatt moved up 16 spots on the final day of the tournament thanks to a nice three-under 69 in the third round. He finished tied for 19th with a three round two-over 218 score. He also carded an eagle on the par-five first hole.

Austin Fulton of West Georgia sits in first as the number one individual golfer, while Barry holds on to first place in the team rankings.
