INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The no. 2/3 Carson-Newman men's golf team remains as the number one team in the newest NCAA Southeast Regional rankings released on Friday, Mar. 18.
The Eagles were ranked no. 1 in the first rankings of the season that were released in February. C-N currently sits above SAC rivals no. 3 Lincoln Memorial, no. 7 Limestone, and no. 10 Newberry.
Teams that win their respective conference championship with receive automatic bids into each regional tournament. For each regional, the top-12 teams will play along with six individuals who are not on the teams included. From there, the top three teams and individuals in each regional tournament will garner a spot in the national championship.
In the national polls, Carson-Newman sits at no. 3 in the Golfstat poll and tied for no. 2 in the Bushnell/Golfweek polls. The team they are tied with for the second place spot, USC-Aiken, sit at no. 2 in the Southeast Regional rankings.
The Eagles are coming off one of the most dominant rounds of golf in SAC history at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. C-N shot 29-under par for the entire two-round tournament, shooting a 547 and defeating Division-I Oral Roberts by 12 strokes. The convocation's 272 second round score is the third lowest round in SAC history for men's golf.
