Compagner snags two first-place finishes during the second day of SAC Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Carson-Newman finishes day two of the SAC Championships with four first-place finishes.

Manon Compagner took home two first-place finishes from day two of the SAC Swimming Championships. Compagner placed first in the women's 200-yard freestyle with a finals time of 1:49.11, a new personal best. Compagner also finished first in the women's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.92 securing an NCAA "A" Cut. Her efforts afforded her another personal best in the event. Kyla Blakemore placed second in the event in 56.09. Lily Parr finished first in the 'B' Final for the event in 57.91, and Emma Bowling won the 'C' Final in 59.34.

On the men's side of competition, Wander Sousa and Will Humphreys tied for fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with new personal bests in 48.79. Both men received an NCAA Division II "B" Cut for their performances.

Rachel Peden placed first in the women's 400-yard IM with a finals time of 4:22.61. Her efforts afforded her an NCAA "B" Cut and new personal record in the event. Lillian Hilt won the 'B' Final in 4:34.38, and Alexis Bender won the 'C' final in 4:41.24.

Carson-Newman women's swim also won the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:42.52 securing an NCAA "B" Cut. The men placed second in 3:15.07 to secure another "B" Cut for the Eagles.

Carson-Newman ended the night ranked second. The women currently stand with 859 points, and the men have 764 after night two. Carson-Newman will race again tomorrow morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. for the third day of the 2023 SAC Men's and Women's Swimming Championships.
