Men's Tennis Earns ITA Top-50 Spot

TEMPE, Ariz. - Carson-Newman men's tennis (5-6) breaks into the ITA NCAA D-II National Rankings, earning no. 48 on the list. Marc Janse is ranked for the first time in his career, notching a no. 71 placement on the singles ranking. 

Men's tennis began the season 1-4 before winning four out of the last six games, including three conference wins. The Eagles took down Catawba 6-1, then Lenoir-Rhyne 7-0, and recently Limestone 6-1. 

Marc Janse earns his first ranked spot when he placed 71st on the national singles list. Janse leads the team with an 8-3 record, primarily in the one spot where he is 5-2. Janse is 4-0 in conference play, have won seven in a row, and is 1-0 against nationally ranked opponents. 

The Eagles are 1-3 against nationally ranked opponents. They picked up a 6-1 win over #25 Belmont Abbey in the season opener. They lost to #11 North Georgia, #13 Lander, and #30 Tusculum. They will take on #20 Anderson on Saturday, Mar. 18th.
