The Eagles head to Belmont to Take on the BAC Invitational

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman Men's tennis team heads to Belmont, N.C., to take on the BAC Invitational. The men will begin to play at noon.

"I am looking forward to going out there and playing matches again," Ids Waterbolk said. "It is great for us to test our level against some good opponents over the weekend."

The Eagles will compete first against West Virginia Wesleyan College at noon. Carson-Newman will move on to play Lenoir-Rhyne at 3:00 P.M. On Saturday, the Eagles will take on Queens at 2:00 P.M. Each game will consist of two doubles and five singles.

Last year, The Lenoir Rhyne Bears handed the Eagles their first SAC loss of the season. Gjorgji Jankulovski (7-6, 2-6, 6-1) and Ids Waterbolk (7-6, 6-4) gave Carson-Newman their only two winning matches in a 6-2 loss.

Two weeks later, the #23 Eagles competed against the #36 Queen's team. Queens was able to upset the Eagles 4-3. Lars Hordijk (0-6, 7-6, 7-5), Waterbolk (4-6, 6-4, 6-4), and Jankulovski (6-2, 5-7, 6-3) were the winning Eagles on the day.

The Eagles will see action for the first time in 18 days. Their most recent competition was at the ITA Regionals, where Marnix Van Dalen took the first-place prize in his consolation bracket. Ids Waterbolk competed in a consolation bracket but fell in the final match.

The Eagles competed nicely in doubles action as well at the ITA Regionals. Rintaro Oka and Javier Crespo entered the event unseeded but upset the number seven seed.
