Eagles Look for Success Against the Pioneers, Patriots in Final Action of Fall Season

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman closes the fall season against the University of Cumberlands and SAC rival Tusculum. The Eagles first saw the Pioneers earlier this season at the Lincoln Memorial University Invitational.

The Eagles' men's team will compete with Marc Janse, Gjorgji Janjkulovski, Ids Waterbolk, Joshua Ott, and Rintaro Oka.

The Eagles will begin the home invitational with doubles action against Tusculum at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday. The two teams should move onto singles action at 11:30 A.M.

Doubles action against Cumberland will kick off at 3:00 P.M. The Eagles will save singles play against the Patriots for Sunday at 9:00 A.M.

Carson-Newman will finish the invitational on Sunday with more singles action against Tusculum at 2:30 P.M.

The Eagles compete against the Pioneers for the second time in this short fall season.

The Eagles were victorious against the Pioneers in doubles, winning two out of three matches. Carson-Newman will hope to fair better against Tusculum in singles action. At the LMU Invite, the Eagles could only win one of three matches against the Pioneers before inclement weather conditions sent the Eagles home early.

The Eagles last faced off against the University of Cumberlands in October of 2019. The Eagles could win three out of four doubles matches but could not win any singles matches. Janse, Waterbolk, and Ott were all freshmen on that 2019 team and will be looking for revenge against the Patriots, who dominated their previous matchup.
