The Eagles exit the Main Bracket at the ITA Regionals

Results

SUMTER, S.C. - The Eagles ended their time at the ITA regionals with a trio of losses on Saturday morning.

Marc Janse looked dominant on Friday afternoon in his only singles match but failed to carry the momentum to Saturday. Janse, the lone Eagle, playing on Saturday's singles action, played the number two seeded Joaquin Benoit. Benoit won in straight sets of 6-2 and 6-3.

Ids Waterbolk and Gjorji Jankulovski played well in their first doubles action on Friday afternoon when they won their match 8-6. The Eagles were matched against the 16th seeded Marco Jalalian and Francesco Bonacia from Tusculum University. The Pioneers could come out on top as they beat Waterbolk and Jankulovski with a final score of 8-5.

Rintaro Oka and Javier Crespo were able to upset their seventh-ranked opponent in the round of 32. The duo moved on to face off against Jagger Ong-Patzwald and Nikita Tatyanin in the round of 16.

The Eagles were unable to keep their momentum going as they lost in an 8-0 sweep. Tatyanin knocks out the Eagles for the second year in a row. Last year, Tatyanin matched up against Janse in the round of 32 singles action and took down the Eagle to end Carson-Newman's time at the ITA Regionals. He was able to finish the Eagles in a similar fashion after he knocked off the last-standing Eagles duo.

The Eagles still have hope as Marnix Van Dalen, Javier Crespo, Rintaro Oka, and Ids Waterbolk all qualify for the consolation bracket
