Eagles Women's Golf Sits in 14th After Day One at NCAA DII South Regional Preview

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's golf team sits in 14th, shooting 62-over par on day one of the NCAA DII South Regional Preview.

"We had really great weather at Cleveland Country Club today," head coach Jessica Shepley said. "The girls fought through the 36-hole round with some ups and downs, but they are gaining abundant experience… Every player can utilize today's rounds to improve for tomorrow."

Caroline Nemes led the Eagles on day one, finishing tied for 40th. Nemes shot a 78 in the first 18 and then a 77 on the back 18, good for 11-over par on the afternoon.

Madison Cline finished tied for 66th, including a 9-stroke improvement from round one to round two. Cline shot an 85 in round one and showed improvement in round two, shooting a 76. Cline wrapped up day one at 17-over par.

Ashley Holland followed Cline, tied for 72nd, also cutting strokes from the first to the second round. Holland shot an 82 in the first 18 and an 80 in the second to finish at 18-over.

True freshman Macy Bromley tied for 76th with an 80-stroke performance in the first 18 holes before shooting an 84 in the second round, finishing at 20-over on the day.

Ida Petersen rounds out the Eagles' finishers tied for 79th, shooting an 81 in the first round and an 85 in the second round to shoot 22-over par on the afternoon.

The Eagles return to Cleveland Country Club for the final 18 holes tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
