C-N Climbs to 3rd Following Multiple Solid Rounds on Day Two of SAC Championships

SALISBURY, NC—In a good position after round one, the Carson-Newman women's golf team used several solid rounds to cut nine strokes off the first-round total, shooting a 299 as a team to move up to third at 39-over par.

"I'm really happy with everyone's efforts today," head coach Jessica Shepley said. "Everyone kept their heads on straight and kept the mistakes to a minimum."

Ida Petersen again leads the Eagles after day two, staying put in 15th with a 75-stroke performance in round two. Petersen had a solid front nine, stroking two birdies on her first three holes. Despite a double bogey on hole six, she birdied on 7 before two pars to finish the first nine holes at even par. Despite three holes over par, Pedersen was consistently at par on the back nine. Pedersen finished the round at 4-over.

Caroline Nemes sits tied for 20th after round two, shooting a 76 in the second round. Nemes started her day with four straight pars, and despite a triple bogey on the next hole, Nemes shot at par on three of the final four holes and a birdie on hole eight to finish the front nine strong. On the back nine, Nemes shot three bogeys but the other six holes at par to finish the round at 5-over.

Madison Cline made a significant jump on day two, climbing 21 spots with a 72-stroke performance. It was an impressive showing from Cline, shooting a birdie in her first hole of the day before shooting par on six of eight holes to limit the damage of two bogeys. Despite a bogey and double bogey to start the back nine, Cline responded nicely with three birdies on her next four holes before shooting par the rest of the way to finish the round at 1-over.

Macy Bromley comes next, tying for 24th after round two, shooting a 76. The freshman shot her first six holes of the first nine but two holes over par to finish the front nine at 3-over. On the back nine, Bromley shot two birdies to limit the damage of four bogeys and finished the round at 5-over.

Hannah Holland rounds out the Eagles on day two, shooting a 79 in the second round of action. Despite two double bogeys and three bogeys on the front nine, Holland tallied a birdie and three holes at par to garner momentum heading into the back nine. In the last nine holes of the day, Holland, despite four bogeys, stroked two birdies to finish the round at 8-over.
