Eagles in Seventh, Within Reach of Moving Up After Day One of Battle at Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Carson-Newman women's golf team sits in 7th after the first 18 holes of the Battle at Hilton Head at 30-over as a team.

Ida Petersen leads the Eagles after day one, tied for 12th, shooting a 77 to finish the day at 5-over. Caroline Nemes and Madison Cline shortly follow, tied for 27th after an 80 on the first 18 holes, both finishing at 8-over.

Hannah Holland comes in tied for 33rd following an 81-stroke performance at 9-over on the afternoon. Playing as an individual, Macy Bromley also put forth a similar performance to tie for 33rd.

Emery Fisher rounds out the Eagles with an 83 in the first round, tied for 47th at 11-over.

In a tightly contested field, the Eagles will have a chance to improve their standing on day two. Wingate leads the field at 13-over as a team, but C-N sits just two strokes away from SCAD-Savannah and Lenoir-Rhyne, who sit tied for 5th. The Eagles are also an achievable seven strokes behind Oklahoma Christian in 2nd.

With an opportunity to climb the scoreboard on day two, C-N returns to Robert Trent Jones at Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head, South Carolina, at 9 AM on Tuesday morning for the final 18 holes.
