Eagles Tied for 1st After Day One of the Music City Invitational, with Three Eagles in the Top Five

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's golf team sits atop the leaderboard, tied for 1st with three golfers in the top five after the first 18 holes of the Music City Invitational, shooting 18-over par as a team. 

"I'm really proud of the girls," head coach Jessica Shepley said. "The conditions were terrible, and everyone fought all day." 

Hannah Holland leads the Eagles, tied for 1st after day one. Holland's impressive 73-shot performance put her at 1-over on the day. Ida Petersen and Emery Fisher both shot a 75, joining Holland in the top five, tying for 3rd after day one at 3-over.

"Hannah's first round was so steady," Shepley said. "Emery and Ida both kept their emotions in check all day and posted great rounds."

Madison Cline finished the day tied for 46th after shooting an 83 in the first 18 holes to finish at 11-over. Macy Bromley shortly followed, posting an 84 to finish the day at 12-over. 

After an impressive day on the course, the Eagles will look to close out the fall season on a high note in the final 18 holes, getting started at 9 AM at Old Fort Golf Club.
