Eagles Look to Finish Regular Season Strong at Lady Bearcat Invitational

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Showing steady improvement under first-year head coach Jessica Shepley, the Carson-Newman women's golf team looks to finish the regular season on a high note at the Lady Bearcat Invitational at the Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, South Carolina.

The last time out at the Battle at Hilton Head, the Eagles jumped two spots on day two, cutting 15 strokes off their team's first-round total to finish tied for 5th.

Caroline Nemes and Ida Petersen finished in the top ten, tying for 6th as they shot low rounds on day two to finish at 7-over. Improving on an impressive campaign, Nemes delivered a 71 in the second round, shaving nine strokes off of her first-round total. Petersen also shot a low round with a 74, improving on a 77 in round one. Madison Cline and Emery Fisher also tallied their lowest rounds, helping C-N to the 5th-place finish.

Two Eagles played the course in 2022, as Hannah Holland and Caroline Nemes delivered solid performances. Holland recorded her second top-ten finish of her sophomore campaign, shooting an even-par 72 in the final round to jump eight spots and finish tied for 5th. Nemes finished tied for 41st at 15-over for the event.

The Eagles will get an idea of what the competition will look like at the SAC Championships, as Lincoln Memorial, Newberry, Lenoir-Rhyne, Limestone, Wingate, and Tusculum are all featured in the field.

C-N will go with the experienced lineup of Petersen, Nemes, Cline, and Holland, and freshman Macy Bromley will also get the nod.

With some experience in the event, the Eagles will look to compete at a high level in a field featuring a number of conference foes to round out the regular season, teeing off Monday at 9 AM at the Greenwood Country Club.
