Holland Takes 1st, Eagles Finish 2nd at Music City Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's golf team finished 2nd at the Music City Invitational, led by graduate student Hannah Holland, who finished the two-day event in 1st place, earning her first collegiate win.

"I'm really proud of the girls," head coach Jessica Shepley said. "They fought all day and could have let a couple of rounds get away from them, but they grinded until the very end."

After an impressive first round on Monday, Holland followed it up on day two with a 72, shaving a stroke off of her first-round performance. Holland finished the two-day event at 1-over par, sitting alone atop the leaderboard. Holland's performance in Murfreesboro is her best since being at C-N, topping her previous best round of 75 at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial in the 2022-23 season.

"It was amazing to see Hannah's first collegiate win," Shepley said. "She was so steady all day, and she hit some incredible shots under pressure."

Holland was joined near the top by teammate Ida Petersen, who provided consistency within the Eagles lineup by delivering another solid 75-shot performance in round two. Petersen finished 5th at 6-over par.

Emery Fisher also found herself within the top ten, shooting a 78 in the second round to finish tied for 9th at 9-over par.

Freshman Macy Bromley climbed the leaderboard on day two, jumping 16 spots after a 78-shot second round, shaving six strokes off her day one performance to tie for 37th at 18-over. Madison Cline rounded out the Eagle starters, tying for 45th with an 81-shot second round, taking two shots off her first-round mark to finish at 20-over.

With an impressive performance to round out first-year head coach Jessica Shepley's first fall season at C-N, the Eagles will look to take the momentum into the spring season.
