Nemes Delivers Career-Best Round, Ties Program Record as Eagles Finish 5th at Jerry Surrate Memorial

MONROE, NC—Multiple Eagles delivered their best rounds of the tournament, including a career-best and a program record-tying round from Caroline Nemes, propelling C-N to a 5th-place finish at the Jerry Surrate Memorial. The team shot 288 in the final round, the lowest round of the season.

"I'm really proud of these girls," head coach Jessica Shepley said. "This was such a tough field, and they held their own the entire event… I love how games are trending, and confidence grows each week."

Leading the Eagle finishers was Ida Petersen, finishing 8th  at 3-over. She improved on a stellar day one with her best round of the tournament, shooting a 72 to finish at 3-over.

Despite a bogey on the second hole of the round, Petersen responded with two birdies on the front nine, including one on hole nine, to finish the first half of the round on a strong note. On the back nine, Petersen shot over par just twice and tallied two more birdies, including one on hole 18 to overcome a double bogey on 16.

Close behind Petersen was Caroline Nemes, who jumped 23 spots in the final round following a personal-best round and tied the program record with a 67 in round three. She finished the round at 5-under and 5-over for the tournament.

Despite a bogey on the first hole of the round, Nemes responded with four straight birdies on holes three through six before a birdie on hole nine to round out the first half of the final round. On the back nine, Nemes started with two consecutive birdies and cruised the rest of the way, shooting over par just once throughout the final seven holes.

Madison Cline also climbed the leaderboards on the final day of action, jumping 13 spots with a 72 in the third round to finish tied for 21st at 10-over. Cline's third-round total matches her lowest round of the season.

Cline was consistent in her final round, making a birdie on the first hole and remaining at par until a bogey on hole 8. Despite two bogeys on the back nine, Cline made birdies on holes 14 and 16 to even the day and finish the event at 10-over.

Hannah Holland tied for 35th  after an 80 in round three and finished the event at 13-over. The grad student made two birdies in the final round but shot eight holes over par on the final 18 holes.

Macy Bromley shot her best round of the tournament to move up five spots, tying for 65th after shooting a 77 in round three. Bromley sat at par for most of the final round, with only three holes over par on the front nine and two holes over par on the back.

With another stellar performance under first-year head coach Jessica Shepley, the Eagles will look to build on the positive momentum at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on March 19th and 20th.
