DADE CITY, Fl. – The Carson-Newman women's finished tied for 5th at the Battle at Hilton Head, with two Eagles securing spots in the top ten.

Ida Petersen and Caroline Nemes led the Eagles, tying for 6th at the end of the event.

"I am really proud of how they played today," head coach Jessica Shepley said. "This is not an easy course, and they were both composed and gave themselves a lot of opportunities all day… This is a perfect example of consistent work and what happens when you stick to your game plan."

Despite shooting a triple bogey on hole four, Petersen responded with a birdie on eight before shooting par to end the front nine. Petersen tallied back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14 on the back nine. Throughout the final round, Petersen shot above par on only three holes. Shaving three strokes off her first-round performance with a 74 in round two, Petersen finished the two-day event at 7-over.

For the second time in the spring, Caroline Nemes finished an event in the top ten. After shooting an 80 in round one, Nemes improved by nine strokes in the second round of the event with a 71 in the second. Starting the front nine with a bogey, Nemes bounced back with two birdies on holes five and seven. Nemes tallied two more birdies on the back nine on holes ten and 14. Like Petersen, Nemes only found herself above par on five of the 18 holes in round two, finishing at 7-over.

Madison Cline became the next Eagle on the scoreboard, finishing tied for 26th at 13-over. Cline started the front nine of the final round strong with two birdies on the first three holes before a bogey on hole four. On holes seven and eight, Cline tallied a double bogey and a bogey but scored par on the last hole of the front nine. Cline added four bogeys through the back nine and shot a birdie on hole 16. Cline performed well in the final round, taking three strokes off her first-round performance to shoot a 77.

Emery Fisher tied for 51st, shooting an improved 81 to finish at 20-over. Fisher started the round with bogeys on holes one and three but bounced back with a birdie on hole four. Throughout the round, Fisher had a few bogeys but responded by shooting for par and finishing the event on a high note.

Rounding out the Eagles was Hannah Holland, finishing tied for 54th. Despite struggling on the back nine with three straight double bogeys on holes 15 through 17, Holland shot for par on eight holes throughout the final round. With an 85 in round two, Holland finished at 22-over.

The Eagles will come home and look to build on the positives before heading to the Jerry Surratt Memorial in Monroe, North Carolina, on March 11th.
