Eagles Head to Sevierville for Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's golf team heads down the road to compete in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Sunday, looking to build on the momentum from a historic round at the Jerry Surrate Memorial.

In the final round of the Jerry Surrate Memorial, the Eagles shot the best round in program history with a 288, led by Caroline Nemes, who tied the school record for individual performance with a 67 in the final round.

C-N will look to carry the momentum into a familiar course at the Sevierville Golf Club, as the Eagles finished 9th in the event a season ago.

The Eagles competed in Sevierville on a chilly March afternoon, with windy conditions in the 40s. Three Eagles on this year's team competed in the event: Hannah Holland, Caroline Nemes, who finished tied for 54th, and Ida Petersen.

On the final day of the event, Holland was steady, tallying eight pars in the final round to shave five strokes off of her second-round effort. Nemes had similar success, shooting seven pars in the final round, including three consecutive pars at the end of the round.

Petersen, who withdrew in the second round, returned for the final round and finished strong with seven pars on her first ten holes. She also had a birdie on hole three, helping her to a 9-over final round.

The Eagles performed well at the tournament, tallying the third most pars (149), and finished in the top five in scoring average and par 3s and 5s.

With experience at the course and plenty of momentum to build, the Eagles will look to succeed on Sunday, the first day of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, teeing off at 9 a.m.
