CARMEL, Ind. - The Carson-Newman women's golf team is returning to Mossy Creek with a fifth place finish at the annual UINDY Invitational after standout performances from Maeve Cummins and Ellie Haughton.

After an admirable day one performance, the Eagles looked to continue to battle with some of the best golfers in the country. However day two of the tournament saw the Eagles shoot their highest round of the week as the group shot a collective 312. The 24-over performance was enough to drop the Eagles three slots on the team leaderboard. Despite the dissapointing drop, the fifth place finish is the Eagles' best finish at Prairie View Golf Club since they began attending the event.

Overall, head coach Kelsey Hutson was pleased with how her girls performed in their first tournament under her direction. "Overall it was a great start to our season." Hutson said.

"We started the season with two true freshman in our lineup, which gave them great experience. The last round we had some high numbers that kept us from finishing where I wanted us, but we have set new goals for our next tournament and we will be ready to play."

Maeve Cummins continued her strong performance in Carmel with a four-over performance in round three. Overall, her six-over tournament performance landed her a spot on the UINDY All-Tournament Team. Her final score of 222 landed her a solid fifth-place finish.

Ellie Haughton was able to rebround in the tournament with a six-over round three and land in a tie for fourteenth, shooting a total of 229. True freshmen Caroline Nemes and Ashley Holland were able to come home at T36 with scores of 237. In round three Nemes collected a 78, while Holland rounded out the day with an 80. Rounding out the lineup was Ana Herrera, who shot an 84 on the day. Her 240 overall performance was good enough to tie her for 39th.

Individually, Hannah Holland finished the tournament tied for 45th, as she shot an 81 in round three for a total of 242.
