INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - In the final regional rankings of the season, the Carson-Newman women's golf team slid back down to 12th in the final rankings released by the NCAA on Thursday, Apr. 14.

The Eagles are down two spots from the second poll released in March, where the convocation was ranked 10th out of 14 teams. Carson-Newman joins four other SAC members in the rankings, with Anderson at no. two, Limestone at no. 5, Wingate at no. 11, and Lenoir-Rhyne at no. 14. Lynn holds the no. 1 spot in the South region

The top 12 teams in the south region will advance to the NCAA South Regional Championship May 2-4 in Davie, Fla. Anderson, Barry, and UNC Pembroke have each earned automatic bids to the regional tournament after winning their respective conference championships in the SAC, Sunshine State, and Conference Carolinas. The Gulf South and Peach Belt Conference championships are being decided this week. The top three teams after the regional tournament will move on to the NCAA D-II Women's Golf Championships May 10-14 in Gainesville, Ga. 

No. 17/20 Carson-Newman wrapped up a third-place finish at the SAC Women's Golf Championship on Apr. 5,  their highest finish at the event since 2016.

As a team, the Eagles carded a nine-under 297 ­final round score, the lowest single round score for the program in SAC Tournament history. The convocation recorded a 299 third-round score at the 2021 edition of the SAC Women's Golf Championship.

For the week, the Eagles finished in third-place as a team with a three-round score of a 45-over 909, the lowest team three-round score for the orange and blue in tournament history. C-N finished one-stroke above no. 4/4 Limestone after the Saints shot a 21-over 309 in the final round.

Individually, the Eagles were led Maeve Cummins recorded her second career top-five finish at the SAC Women's Golf Championships, finishing fourth at this year's tournament. The Waringstown, Northern Ireland native shot a one-over 73 in the final round of the tournament to finish the week with an overall score of a five-over 221.
