Cummins inside the top-10 after opening day at SAC Championships

DAY ONE RESULTS

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Despite a tough start, Maeve Cummins rebounded with a trio of birdies on the back-nine to move into a tie for sixth after the first day of the SAC women's golf championships.

The Waringstown, Northern Ireland native shot a five-over 41 on the front-nine, before rebounding with one-under shots on the 12th, 17th and 18th holes. Cummins finished the day with a two-over 74. She sits tied for sixth-place individually with Ida Hansen of Newberry College. Cummins recorded a third of the nine birdies carded by C-N golfers in the opening round.

As a team, the no. 17/21 Eagles sit in fifth place and just three strokes behind Lincoln Memorial with a 22-over 310. The convocation had the second-best score on par threes in the opening round, shooting eight-over and an average score of 3.40.

No. 5/6 Anderson sits in first-place ahead of no. 4/4 Limestone by three strokes after day one after the Trojans shot an eight-over 296.

"We struggled a bit today as a team," says Director of Golf Randy Wylie. "Maeve and Hannah played fine and rebounded well after a poor start. The rest of the team should rebound tomorrow and we should bounce back nicely."

Hannah Holland sits just outside the top-10 at eleventh with a four-over 76. The Sale Creek, Tenn. native carded four birdies on the afternoon, but was hampered by a pair of double bogeys on the second and 12th holes. She, along with teammate Caroline Nemes also shot a one-over 3.25 on par threes, the sixth-best score of the field.

The younger Holland sister, Ashley Holland, sits tied for 27th with a seven-over 79. Her teammate, Ellie Haughton, sits at 39th, with a nine-over 81.

Nemes rounds out the five Eagles represented, sitting at 54th with a 13-over 85.
