Haughton helps C-N rebound in final day of Fall Slam

Final Results

ST. AUGUSTINE, F.L - Ellie Haughton's top ten finish at the 2021 Flagler Fall Slam would help rebound a struggling Carson-Newman group, who sat 11th after a day of play. Haughton's even par day would slide the Eagles up to seventh on the final leaderboard.

After a lackluster first round of play, Haughton sat in a tie for 24th. However, five birdies in the second round would slide Haughton fifteen spots up the player leaderboard to ninth place. Haughton's six birdies would tie her for the third most of any golfer at the Fall Slam. Haughton would also have the second lowest score on par five holes with a 4.75 average.

Maeve Cummins would keep up her consistent play in the sunshine state, shooting a 76 on day one and a 77 on day two. Although she finished nine strokes over par, Cummins would stay locked in the 13th position with two birdies on the front nine.

Hannah Holland finished round two with one birdie for a score of 79. Her two round total came out to 162, giving her a share of 48th place. Ana Herrera took three strokes off her round one score with an 81 second round. She would finish with a score of 165 and a share of 56th place. Ashley Holland's 85 in round two would bring her final total to 172, putting her in a tie for 78th.

Carson-Newman's seventh place finish comes behind a 1-2-3 finish for conference foes Limestone, Anderson, and Lenoir-Rhyne University. Limestone's win of the Flagler Fall Slam would be their second in as many years.

As the fall 2021 schedule comes to an end for Carson-Newman's women's golf squad, they shift their attention to the spring of 2022.
