Women's Golf up to tenth in NCAA South Region poll

Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - In the second regional poll of the season, the Carson-Newman women's golf team has moved up two spots to tenth in the newest poll, released on Thursday, Mar. 17.

The Eagles are up two spots from the first poll released in February, where the convocation was ranked 12th out of 14 teams. Carson-Newman joins four other SAC members in the rankings, with Limestone at no. three,  Anderson at no. 4, Wingate at no. 11, and Lenoir-Rhyne at no. 12. Lynn holds the no. 1 spot in the South region

The top 12 teams in the south region will advance to the NCAA South Regional Championship May 2-4 in Davie, Fla. Teams can earn an auto-bid to the regional tournament by winning the conference championship. The top three teams after the regional tournament will move on to the NCAA D-II Women's Golf Championships May 10-14 in Gainesville, Ga.

Carson-Newman has excelled this spring season, finishing inside the top-five at three straight tournaments, including the event championship at the 2022 Battle at Hilton Head, winning the event by three strokes.

Just recently, the Eagles finished second at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. As a team, the convocation shot a 27-over 311 in the second round, finishing the tournament with a 41-over 609. That score passed Eastern Kentucky's 36-hole score of 620 in 2015 for the third-best score in Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate history.

In the national polls, C-N sits at 17th in the WGCA poll and 18th in the Golfstat national poll.

The Eagles will look to improve their standing in the national polls in their final tournament of the regular season, competing at the Lady Bearcat Invitational in Greenwood, S.C. on Mar. 28-29. Fans can follow the Carson-Newman women's golf team with updates at cneagles.com.
