Eagles Land Three on Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Teams

2023 Spring Schedule

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Carson-Newman's women's tennis program places a trio of Eagles on the preseason All-South Atlantic Conference team ahead of the 2022 spring season, the league announces on Friday.

Senior Anita Chornei notches second team (Kyiv, Ukraine), earns All-Conference second-team honors for the first time in her career. Chornei is joined by senior Natasha Forrest (Jersey, United Kingdom) and junior Summer Reeves (Maidstone, Kent, England), who both earned third-team honors. Forrest earns all-conference laurels for the second season, and Reeves earns the honors for the first time in her career.

Chornei finished last season with a record of with a 23-5 record in singles play. Most of her wins came in the number six spot, where she finished with a 13-4 record. Chornei shined bright in league play, finishing with a 9-2 record in SAC play.

During the fall season, Chornei defeated Mille Elsborg of Lander University to win her consolation bracket at the ITA Regionals. In her most recent action, Chornei won all three matches at the Eagle Invitational on October 22nd and 23rd.

Forrest finished last season with a record of 22-11 in singles play. Forrest excelled in the number five spot, notching a 10-5 record. Forrest finished the season with a 10-2 record in SAC play. Forrest also saw a significant amount of action in doubles play, finishing with a record of 20-12/ 12 of her doubles victories, coming in at the number one spot.

Forrest had a perfect outing in her most recent appearance at the Eagle Invitational during the fall season. Forrest was 2-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles. Her most notable win on the day was when she beat Tusculum's Tabitha Howe playing the number one spot in sets of 6-4 and 7-5.

Reeves finished last season with a record of 9-16, with over half of her wins coming at the no. two spot. Reeves shined in doubles play, where she finished with a record of 17-4 in the no. two spot with an 11-1 record in SAC play.

The league also announced on Friday that the Eagles are tabbed fifth in the South Atlantic Conference preseason polls. The Eagles finished with a 17-5 record last season, with a 10-2 record in conference play.

The Eagles closed the year with a 5-3 record in April. Those wins include a 4-3 win at no. 12 Wingate and a 4-2 postseason victory over Anderson.
