Eagles Nearing Season's End

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman women's tennis (2-12) will take on the University of Virginia at Wise (7-11) on Monday, APr. 10th. The Eagles will then play in their final home game against Mars Hill (7-10) on Tuesday before playing their season finale against #10 Newberry (13-2) on Saturday.

The Eagles are coming off their second win of the season after defeating Lincoln Memorial 4-3 last Wednesday. Carson-Newman won the doubles point for the third time this season before singles victories from Anita Chornei, Natasha Forrest, and Mollie Edge led to Carson-Newman's victory.

Anita Chornei is the ITA's 73rd-ranked singles player in Division-II. Chornei has a 1-0 record against nationally ranked opponents and a 2-0 record against regionally ranked opponents. Chornei is 6-8 so far this season, picking up most of her wins as Carson-Newman's one player.

Natasha Forrest leads the Eagles in singles victories this season. Forrest is 10-4 this season, including a 7-2 record in conference play. Forrest also leads the Eagles in doubles victories. She earned six when paired with Julia Speiser and two when paired with Summer Reeves.

Summer Reeves is third on the team with eight wins this season. Reeves has primarily played as Carson-Newman's three-player but has also seen work as Carson-Newman's four.

Virginia-Wise broke out of their 10-game losing streak to defeat Emory & Henry last Sunday. The Cavs are 1-8 in conference play this season. The Eagles are 4-0 all-time against the Cavs, including winning their last matchup 6-1.

Mars Hill lost their fifth consecutive game when they played Lenoir-Rhyne last Tuesday. Mars Hill's last win was on Mar. 23rd against Virginia-Wise. The Eagles defeated Mars Hill last season 7-0.

310 Newberry is 8-1 against conference opponents this season. The Wolves are the conference's second team behind Wingate (13-2). Newberry is the highest-ranked SAC team in the ITA's Division-II rankings. The Eagles are 9-8 against Newberry all-time. Carson-Newman lost their matchup with the Wolves 4-3 last season.
