Eagles Look to Right the Ship During Matchups with Emory & Henry and Wingate

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman women's tennis (0-11) set to take on Emory and Henry (4-8) on Wednesday, Mar. 29th, before traveling to take on no. 26 Wingate University (9-2) on Saturday, Apr. 1st.

Women's tennis is led by Anita Chornei, the ITA's 51st-ranked singles player in Division II tennis. Chornei has lined up as Carson-Newman's one-player nine times this season. The Kyiv, Ukraine native has 30 career singles victories under her belt.

Natasha Forrest leads the Eagles in singles victories this season with eight. Forrest is riding a four-game winning streak in singles action and has won eight of her last ten. Summer Reeves is second on the team, having compiled a 7-4 record after winning her last six matchups.

The Eagles feature the ITA's 46th-ranked duos pair, Natasha Forrest and Summer Reeves. Reeves and Forrest hold a 2-3 record this season as a pair, but the pair began the year with a victory over the ITA's no. 18 ranked pairing in Johanna Lippert and Viktorie Wojcikova. The pairing of Julia Speiser and Forrest currently leads the Eagles in doubles victories with four.

Emory and Henry is not featured on the ITA's rankings, but Wingate has the no. 75th ranked singles player in Elena Gunfaus. Gunfaus has a 13-3 record against Division II opponents this year.

Carson-Newman currently sits at the bottom of the SAC standings with an 0-6 record in SAC competitions. They linger at the bottom along with UVA-Wise and Emory and Henry. They both have an 0-7 record in conference play.

Wingate is currently third in the SAC with a 5-0 record within the conference and a 9-2 record overall. Newberry is the top team, with a 6-0 record within the conference and an 11-1 record overall. Tusculum is second with a 6-0 record in conference action and a 10-4 record overall.

Doubles action against Emory and Henry will start at 3:00 P.M. at the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex on Wednesday. The Eagles will begin action against Wingate at 1:00 P.M. at Wingate's tennis complex.
