The Lady Eagles head to Belmont, N.C. to take on the BAC Invitational

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman's women's tennis makes the trip to Belmont, N.C., to try their hand at the BAC Invitational.

The Eagles will kick off the day against West Virginia Wesleyan at noon on Friday. Next, Carson-Newman will face off against SAC foe Lenoir-Rhyne at 3:00 P.M. The Lady Eagles will wrap up the BAC Invitational at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday when they play against North Carolina Wesleyan.

Carson-Newman last matched up against Lenoir-Rhyne late last march. The #23 Eagles took down the Bears 5-2. #27 ranked Ana Carla Resende (6-2, 6-3), Violetta Khisamova (6-4, 6-4), and Natasha Forrest (3-6, 7-5, 6-2) were the winning Eagles in singles play. Anita Chornei (8-2) also won her exhibition match.

In doubles action, Resende and Summer Reeves won their match 6-4. Julia Speiser and Khisamova won their match 6-2. The Eagles advanced to 12-2 and remained undefeated in SAC competitions.

The Eagles' most recent competition was 17 days ago when they made their trip to Sumter, S.C., to compete in the ITA Regionals. Ana Carla Resende made it to the semifinals for the second year in a row but could not make it any farther. Chornei took home first in her consolation bracket. Strong efforts from Speiser, Khisamova, and Reeves led the Eagles to a strong outing against quality competition.
