Eagles Struggle Against Conference's Best

WINGATE, N.C. - Carson Newman women's tennis (1-12) drops contest with no. 26 Wingate (12-2) on Sunday, Mar. 2nd, with a score of 7-0.

Doubles

Natasha Forrest paired up with Julia Speiser to take on Chlose Kosmrlj and Suzuka Sambyakugari. The Bulldogs won 6-3. Summer Reeves and Anita Chornei lost their set to Gaya Solomon and Saga Berggren 6-2. The Eagles forfeited the final set.

Singles

No. 68 Chornei battled Kosmrilj in the one spot. Chornei fell in sets of 7-5 and 6-1. Forrest lost to Sambyakugari in sets of 6-1 and 7-5. Reeves took on Flaminia Guidantoni but lost 6-1 and 7-5. Julia Speiser saw Fernanda Castillo in the four spot. Castillo won 6-2 and 6-1. The Eagles forfeited the final two singles sets, giving Wingate the 7-0 victory.

Wingate remains atop the conference standings with a record of 7-0 in conference play. The Eagles are 11th with a 1-7 record.

Carson-Newman has four regular season games left. The Eagles will take on Lincoln Memorial on Apr. 5th before traveling to take on Virginia-Wise on Apr. 7th. The Eagles will return to Mossy Creek to compete in their final home game against Mars Hill on Apr. 11th. The season finale will be played on Apr. 15th against Newberry.
