Eagles Struggles Continue Against Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Carson-Newman's women's tennis (0-3) loses 5-2 against Young Harris College (3-5) on Sunday, Feb. 19th.

Doubles

Natasha Forrest and Summer Reeves won their game against Simone Mercier and Meghan Mallath in the one spot. The Eagles won the first set 7-6 and won the tiebreaker 8-6.

Julia Speiser and Mollie Edge lost their game against Joselyne Chapui and Louise Ratiu. Chapui and Ratiu won the fiirst set 7-6 and the tiebreaker 7-4.

Carson-Newman forfeited the final set of doubles action, giving the victory to Young Harris.

The Eagles have only won two doubles sets so far this year, both by the duo of Forrest and Reeves.

Singles

Chornei took down Mercier in the number one spot. Chornei won in sets of 6-2 and 6-4. Chornei is 3-0 so far this year despite Carson-Newman's 0-3 record.

Forrest faced off against Chapui in the two spot for the Eagles. Chapui won in sets of 7-5 and 6-4.

Summer Reeves saw Emily Bush in the three spot. Reeves lost in consecutive 6-1 sets.

Speiser dropped her sets against Mallath in the four spot. Mallath won in sets of 7-5 and 6-3.

Edge earned the second point of the day for the Eagles against Ratiu. Edge won in sets of 6-3 and 6-4. Edge's victory marks her first of the year.

Carson-Newman begins the season 0-3 for the first time since the 2017 season when the Eagles finished the year 8-10. The Eagles are on their first three-game losing streak for the first time since 2021, when the Eagles lost four in a row in the middle of March.

Carson-Newman returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 21st, against Union (Ky.). The Eagles last saw Union on Feb. 6th of, 2021. Union won the game 4-3.
