Eagles Fall in Conference Match with Saints

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Carson-Newman women's tennis (0-8) drops matchup with Limestone (3-5) on Saturday, Mar. 11th.

Doubles

Natasha Forrest and Julia Speiser lined up against Camila Molina Barran and Maria Cecilia-Gomez. The Eagles won the set 6-3. Forrest and Speiser are 2-1 when playing in the one spot this season.

Mollie Edge and Summer Reeves closed out doubles play with a matchup against Monika Temkova Anamaria Kisner-Luc in the two spot. The Saints won 6-4.

Carson-Newman forfeited the final doubles match, awarding the point to the Saints.

Singles

Forrest lined up against Cecilia-Gomez in the two spot. Forrest won in games of 6-4 and 6-3 to win the set. Forrest leads the team in singles wins with five.

Reeves took on Molina Barran in the two spot. The Saint's Molina Barran won the first set 6-4, but Reeves was able to rally back to win the second 6-3. Reeves carried the momentum into the third to win 6-3 and give Carson-Newman their second point of the day.

Anita Chornei saw Kiszner-Luc in the one spot. Kiszner-Luc won the set with games of 6-2 and 6-3. Julia Speiser lost to Sara Valentini in an 8-5 game. Mollie Edge won her first game 6-3 against Galilea Amavizca but lost the second 7-5 and the third 6-3. Carson-Newman forfeited the final singles match, giving the Saints the 5-2 victory.

Carson-Newman resumes conference play on Wednesday, Mar. 15th, when they take on the Tusculum Pioneers. The matchup will mark Carson-Newman's second game at the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex in Jefferson City.
