The Eagles Continued Their Strong Fall Season in Belmont at the BAC Invitational

BELMONT, N.C. - Carson-Newman's women's tennis team wins eight out of 10 matches on day one of the BAC Invitational.

The Eagles started the day competing against the Mountain East Conference's West Virginia Wesleyan College at noon. The Eagles swept the Bobcats 4-0.

Natasha Forrest began the day playing in the number one position. She won in sets of 6-2 and 6-1.

Summer Reeves carried that momentum into the number two spot. The Junior from England won in sets of 6-1 and 6-2.

Anita Chornei finished off the Bobcat's hopes of a dub in singles action with two 6-0 sweeps.

Forrest and Julia Speiser competed in the lone doubles match against the Bobcats. The Eagles soared over the Bobcats with a 6-2 victory.

The Eagles went on to face off against SAC rival Lenoir-Rhyne. The Eagles won four out of six matches played.

Carson-Newman began singles action, with Forrest remaining in the number one spot. Forrest was matched up against Evgeniya Pugina. She carried her opponent to overtime action but dropped the first set 7-5. She could not catch any traction in the second set as she lost 6-3.

Reeves once again played in the number two position for the Eagles. Reeves faced off against Senior Natalie Lutz. The two battled back and forth, but Reeves won the first set 7-5. She lost momentum in the second set, losing 6-4. The pair competed in the longest set of the day, but Lutz rose victorious with a 10-7 win.

Anita Chornei was able to get the Eagles back on track against the Bears. She won her first set 6-1 and her second set 6-4 against Lenoir-Rhyne's Jessica Fuchs.

Speiser captured the last singles set of the day for the Lady Eagles. She was matched up against Dawson Clifford. Clifford fell in sets of 6-1 and 6-0.

Forrest and Reeves began doubles play against the Bears in the number one spot. The duo won the first set 7-6 and won the tiebreaking set 7-4 against the Bears' Evelin Menyhart and Lutz.

Speiser and Chornei played against Clifford and Diana Babinets. The Eagles rose victorious to close out the day with a set of 6-3.

The Eagles will resume action Saturday at 2:00 P.M. against the division three USA South Athletic Conference's North Carolina Wesleyan College.
