Wylie announces Men's Golf's fall slate

Randy Wylie Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman head men's golf coach Randy Wylie has released his team's schedule for the 2022 dall season.

"We've got a really top-notch schedule," Coach Wylie said. "We always try to schedule some of the best teams in the country and we're doing that again this year. We better be ready to rock and roll right from the beginning."

The Eagles begin the fall in the final week of September when they travel to Columbia, Georgia on the 26th and 27th for the Cougar Invitational played at Green Island Country Club. C-N played in this same event this past fall season and finished 5th

Two weeks later on October 10 and 11th, C-N heads to Kannapolis, North Carolina for the Queens Invitational played at Irish Creek. Similar to the Cougar Invitational, the Eagles competed in this event last year, and came away with a 1st place finish.

"We know both courses really well, that is a nice thing," Coach Wylie said. "We're jumping into some tough competition, but knowing the courses is super helpful."

Coach Wylie will then test his guys with new courses his teams have not played before. On October 24th and 25th, C-N heads to Toccoa, Georgia for the Currahee Invitational played at Currahee Club. The fall season wraps up exactly a week later, when the team travels to Orlando, Florida for the Citrus Intercollegiate. C-N will play the Champions Gate golf course.

"We're going to have a pretty new team," Coach Wylie said. "Basically from the end of the year last year, we have one starter left. This fall is just kind of about developing our lineup and getting some depth on the team. We've got a bunch of new players and some returning players that have really improved. So, we don't really know which of those groups is going to end up in the lineup."

Graduate student Jake Mynatt leads the group of returners. In 2021, his scoring average was a 72.4 with a low round of 67. Elliot MacGregor also returns to C-N after averaging a 73.6 in 17 rounds this past season. His low round was also a 67.

Each event throughout the fall season will be followed up with a recap and results on cneagles.com
