KANNAPOLIS, N.C.- Carson-Newman men's golf completed the final round of the Queens Invitational today, finishing in 7th place.
The Eagles moved up two spots from where it began the final round of the event. C-N's three-day team score was 298, 291 and 293 for a total of 880. The Eagles finished 3rd among SAC schools that participated in the event.
Graduate student Jake Mynatt led the Eagles on the final day carding a 3-under 68. Mynatt made birdies on holes 2, 6, 7, 10, and 14. He made two bogeys in his final round. His three-day score of 219 was the best on the Eagles. He finished tied for 27th.
Following a 67 yesterday, sophomore Luke Stock fired a 7-over 78 today. He was still able to finish with C-N's second lowest total for the event with a 220.
The other three competing golfers for the Eagles all recorded 4-over 75s today.
Sophomore Elliot MacGregor birdied holes 4 and 6 in his final round. He played his final nine holes of the day at even par. His total score for the event was 222.
Graduate student Hayden Hunneke made four birdies in third and final round. He was 1-under through 14 holes but finished his final four holes of the day 4-over par. Like MacGregor, Hunneke finished with a total event score of 222.
Sophomore Taylor Kilgore made one birdie and five bogeys in today's final round. He started 1-over through 11 holes.
Junior Aaron Johns, playing as an individual, finished strong on the final day with a 4-over 75. He made birdies on back-to-back holes in the final round.
C-N recorded the fourth most birdies in the field. It also had the fifth best scoring average on the par 5s.
Fellow SAC member Lincoln Memorial won the event with a three-day team score of 848, edging Lander University by two strokes.
Lander's Linus Jonsson won the individual title going 8-under par in the three rounds.
The Eagles get a week off, before heading to Toccoa, Georgia for the Currahee Invitational on October 24th and 25th.
