C-N looks to wrap up strong regular season at Tennessee River Rumble

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – For the eighth time in the last nine seasons, No. 15 Carson-Newman will compete at the Tennessee River Rumble in Lenoir City, Tennessee.

C-N has had success at this event. The Eagles have won this event twice, in 2016 and 2018. The most recent championship, C-N put together a 26-over team score of 602 to win the event. That 2018 season, Carson-Newman went on to win the SAC Men's Golf Championship.

The Eagles have also finished inside the top five in all seven Tennessee River Rumble meetings.

The event, hosted by Lincoln Memorial will be held at WindRiver Golf Club. The Jack Nicklaus designed course will play just over 7,000 yards and is a par 73.

Joining C-N at the Tennessee River Rumble are five ranked teams, No. 1 Anderson, No. 2 Lee, No. 5 North Georgia, No. 13 Clayton State, No. 18 Lincoln Memorial. Six of the eleven schools under consideration in the first SouthEast region rankings will also compete in this event.

Randy Wylie's crew is coming off an impressive showing at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate last time out. C-N led from start to finish to record its second straight Bobby Nichols Championship.

No. 15 Carson-Newman has had at least two golfers finish inside the top ten in each spring event this season. The Eagles have started off well in all three tournaments so far this spring. Heading into the final day of each event, C-N has been inside the top three. 

Hayden Hunneke (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) have been neck and neck all season leading the team in scoring average. Hunneke has the slim edge at 71.6 to Mynatt's 71.8. Hunneke currently has the fourth best win-loss percentage in a single season in Carson-Newman history at .867. The record is .912, held by Thomas Forster during the 2018-19 season. Mynatt's 71.8 scoring avarege is his best mark during his C-N career. Mynatt has competed in this event three times, with his best finish coming last season. The graduate student put together three solid rounds of golf to finish at 3-under in a tie for 6th place. 

Junior Luke Stock (Oxted, England) is coming off his best tournament with the Eagles. Stock carded an opening round of 3-under, followed up by two even par rounds to secure his first top five finish. He has recorded six par or better rounds this spring.

Elliot MacGregor (Shepperton, Middlesex) earned his second top ten finish of the season, after going 2-over par at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. The sophomore has a 73.8 scoring average this season.

Antonio Farinella (Knoxville, Tenn.) is set to compete in his third tournament of the season. The senior has a 74.8 scoring average over the course of six rounds so far this season.

The two-day, 54 hole event begins tomorrow morning and wraps up Tuesday afternoon.
