ALBANY, Ga. – No. 20 Carson-Newman had three under-par rounds, from three different golfers to help produce a consistent opening two rounds at the Hurricane Invitational.

No. 20 Carson-Newman compiled a team score of 574 in the first two rounds. C-N's opening score was 283, followed up by a 291 score. Despite the higher second round score, the Eagles managed to move up a spot on the leaderboard. C-N trails Nova Southeastern by just two strokes for second place and North Georgia by just five shots.

"Really happy with our first 2 rounds," Head coach Randy Wylie said. "The weather was very windy and extremely challenging. The guys handled it very well. We're playing aganist many of the best teams in the country and we're right in the middle of the fight, where we know we should be."

Luke Stock's (Oxted, England) first round scorecard was filled with plenty of circles. The junior carded six birdies to lead C-N with an opening round 4-under 68. Stock struggled to begin round two but managed to play his final five holes of the day at 1-under par to secure a 3-over 75 second round. He is tied for 15th after two rounds.

Like Stock, Hayden Hunneke (Chattanooga, Tenn.) had plenty of birdies in round one. He made five birdies, three of which came on the front nine. He finished the opening round with a 2-under 70. The graduate student put together an even par round to wrap up his day. He made three birdies and three bogeys in the round. He enters the final round tied for 7th.

Unfortunately for C-N's team score, Elliot MacGregor (Shepperton, Middlesex) was playing as an individual and opened his tournament with a 4-under 68. He made four birdies in the opening nine, including three straight on holes 2-4. The sophomore was plagued by a pair of double bogeys in round two, but still shot a 2-over 74, thanks to birdies on holes 6 and 13. Like Hunneke, he enters the final round tied for 7th and is in first among those playing as an individual.

Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished his first round on a strong note, making birdies on his final two holes of the round to card a 1-over 73. The graduate student made four birdies in the round. He caught fire at the end of round two. Mynatt made four consecutive birdies to end his day and card a 2-under 70. He birdied holes 5-8 and 15 in the second round. Like Stock, he is tied for 15th, moving up 18 spots from round one.

Antonio Farinella (Knoxville, Tenn.) started his C-N career off very well. His opening round was highlighted by an eagle on the 430-yard par four 17th. He made two birdies as well to finish the first 18 holes of the day at 1-under par for a 71. Farinella play the back nine at even par, but the front nine 2-over, to finish with a 74. Both of his birdies in the second round came on the back nine.

Aidan Powter (Sydney, Australia) opened the first round with a 8-over 80. The junior struggled on the par fives, going 5-over. He bounced back by scoring a 3-over 75 in the second round. His lone birdie came on the 8th hole, a 436-yard par four.
