NORMAN, Okla.- The Carson-Newman men's golf team is ranked in the top half, of the first Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll rankings of 2022. 

The Eagles received 254 points to earn the 11th spot in the rankings. Only five points separated the Eagles from the number eight ranking.

C-N was ranked as high as No. 2, multiple times last spring. 

Coach Randy Wylie's team returns two main golfers from 2021. Graduate student Jake Mynatt returns for a 5th season. He finished with a 72.4 scoring average in 29 total rounds last season. 

The Eagles also return SAC freshman of the year Elliot MacGregor. He competed in 17 rounds last year with a 73.6 scoring average. His best performance came in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, when he went -9 and finished as the top individual. 

The defending national champion Lee is first in the rankings. Barry and Oklahoma Christian round out the top three in that order.

Two other SAC schools were also in the first Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll rankings. Lincoln Memorial is ranked 4th with 366 points and Limestone is ranked 8th with 259 points. 

Newberry, Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate were SAC schools that received votes but did not crack the top 25. 

C-N begins its 2022 fall season September 26th and 27th when it travels down to Columbia, Georgia for the Cougar Invitational played at Green Island Country Club.
