TOCCOA, Ga. – Despite playing with just four golfers, Carson-Newman men's golf climbed three spots on the final day of the Currahee Invitational to finish the tournament in 8th place.

"Much better round from us today," Carson-Newman head coach Randy Wylie said. "I am really proud of how the mentally bounced back. They played as well as some of the best teams in the country today, which is what we expect. Fine finish for Hayden Hunneke as well."

Following the completion of round two, C-N was tied for 9th place with Coker. The Eagles were only eleven strokes outside of 4th.

C-N continued its strong play into the third round, the Eagles posted a 288-team score, even par as a team, in the third and final round. That score was the second-lowest third round team score. Randy Wylie's team came five strokes shy of fourth place with the phenonmenal final round performance.

Graduate student Hayden Hunneke climbed the leaderboard, as he finished round two with a 1-under 71. It was the second time this season that Hunneke has finished a round under par. He was just warmed up at the end of the second round. The Chattnooga native, fired a 5-under 67 in the final round. It's the second time he has shot a 67 this season. He finished the tournament tied for second, his highest finish with C-N.

Joining Hunneke with an under-par round was junior Luke Stock. He also fired in a 1-under 71 to move up 15 spots after round two. Stock dropped five strokes from round one to two. He fired a 2-over 74 to wrap up his third tournament of the fall season.

Anderson and LMU were the only two South Atlantic Conference teams to finish above Carson-Newman. The Eagles finished ahead of Coker, Limestone and Newberry.
