Eagles head to Florida to finish fall season

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman men's golf returns to the course tomorrow and Tuesday for the Citrus Intercollegiate held at Champions Gate in Orlando, Florida.

The field is comprised of 13 teams, with C-N the only South Atlantic Conference team in the event. The 13 schools will compete at Champions Gate Golf Club. The course ranges nearly 7000 yards and is a par 72.

C-N is looking to build off a strong finish at the Currahee Invitational. The Eagles posted an even par 288-team score in the final round of the tournament.

Competing in the final tournament of the fall season for the Eagles will be Hayden Hunneke, Jake Mynatt, Luke Stock, Elliot MacGregor, and Zach Young.

Hunneke is coming off a phenomenal 5-under 67 in the final round of the Currahee Invitational. The under par final round moved him into a tie for second place to end the tournament. His second-place finish is the highest by a C-N golfer this season. The Chattanooga native has the lowest scoring average on the team at 72.7.

Mynatt also finished the Currahee Invitational with an under-par round. He fired a 2-under 70, his second lowest round this season. The graduate student is averaging a 74, through nine rounds this fall.

Stock has the second lowest scoring average on the team with a 73.1 mark through nine rounds this fall season. One of his three rounds at the Currahee Invitational were under par.

MacGregor was unable to finish the Currahee Invitational due to a wrist injury. In his prior six rounds, he is averaging a 73.3 scoring mark this fall. He finished tied for 6th at the Cougar Invitational to open the fall season.

Young will compete in his first tournament of the season. Over the course of four seasons with the Eagles, he has completed 23 rounds with a 77.1 scoring average. His lowest round of his C-N career came in the 2019-20 season when he carded a 68.

For seven consecutive fall seasons, the Eagles have finished in the top three in at least one event.

Competition gets underway at 8:30 a.m.
