Eagles put four on preseason All-SAC

2022 SAC Women's Soccer Preseason Teams

ROCK HILL, N.C.- Carson-Newman compiled four second-team All-SAC selections, as the South Atlantic Conference announced its preseason teams on Tuesday.

The Eagles put graduate student Jente Kuper, senior Addie Henry and sophomores Sydnee Duncan and Nellie Bryneus. It is the sixth straight season C-N has secured four or more players on a preseason all-conference team.

Kuper earns her fourth consecutive preseason honor. All four honors have been second-team All-SAC. Kuper played and started in 16 games for the Eagles this past season. Her only goal of the season was a game-winning goal against Tusculum on Sep 29. She held the seventh-most points for the team with five. In her Eagles career, the defender has played in 59 career games, making 54 starts.

Henry earns her second All-South Atlantic Conference preseason honor. This past preseason, she earned first team honors. The midfielder collected four goals and two assists in 15 games played, starting 13 of those. With her game-winning penalty kick against Wingate, Henry became the first Eagle to net a penalty kick since Magda Mosengo completed the action against Catawba in November of 2018.

Duncan represents C-N on the All-SAC preseason for the first time. In her first season, she made 17 appearances with 13, as spots in the starting XI. She led the team with eight goals, eighth-most in the SAC. With her three goal-effort against Coker on Oct. 23, Duncan became the first Eagle with a hat trick since October 2018 as well as becoming the first Eagle to collect six points in a match since September 2018. The midfielder compiled four total game-winners, including a SAC leading three game-winners against Mars Hill, Newberry, and Coker.

Similar to Duncan, Bryneus also represents C-N for the first time. The Halmstad, Sweden native started in all 16 games she played, in her first season with the Eagles. She netted the second-most goals on the team with six, including her goal only 33 seconds in against Anderson on Oct. 9. The forward compiled a team-leading four assists, including on the game-winner against Newberry on Oct. 16.

The Eagles begin their 2022 season on Aug. 25 in Cleveland, Tenn. when it takes on Cedarville.
