Eagles begin October with road match against Bluefield State

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's soccer (7-2-2, 6-1) breaks up South Atlantic Conference play as it travels to Bluefield, West Virginia for a non-conference tilt with Bluefield State (3-5-2) tomorrow at 5 pm.

Tomorrow evening's match will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

The Eagles are 1-1-2 in non-conference play and 2-1 on the road this season.

C-N enters the matchup on a six-game win streak, the longest streak since the 2018 season. All six wins have come in South Atlantic Conference competition. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 18-3 during this stretch.

Last time out, C-N fell behind early in the second half, before using a comeback effort to take down Newberry 2-1. It was the first time this season that the Eagles had conceded the first goal of the match and came back to win. It's just the fifth time in the Simon Duffy era as well.

Sophomore Nellie Bryneus leads the Eagles offense with four goals scored this season. Eleven other Eagles have scored a goal this season that helps rank C-N second in the SAC in goals scored with 25.

Senior Addie Henry is the team's leader in assists with four. Ten other players have assisted on a goal this season. The Eagles rank second in SAC play in assists.

Bluefield State enters the match having won its last time out. It defeated Erskine 2-1, eight days ago. The win was the team's first in seven matches, after starting the season with a 2-0 record.

The Big Blue has faced two SAC schools this season. It faced Emory & Henry on Sept 13, falling 3-0. Three days later it went on the road and fell 13-0 to Catawba.

Blanka Zeitvogel has a team high three goals scored this season. Six other players have contributed in the scoring this season.

Goalkeeper Rylee Truslow has started all ten games in goal this season and has been tested. She has made 50 saves and has recorded two clean sheets this season.

C-N will play an October non-conference matchup for the second consecutive year. The Eagles are 2-1 under Duffy when facing a non-conference opponent in October.
