Eagles welcome Railsplitters for final home match

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman women's soccer (8-3-2, 6-2) hopes to start a new win streak when Lincoln Memorial (1-10, 0-7) comes to Mossy Creek tomorrow for a 5 p.m. kick off.

In the South Atlantic Conference table, Carson-Newman is in third place with 18 points, 1 point shy of Catawba for second and two points shy of Lenoir-Rhyne for first place. Lincoln Memorial sits in a tie for last place with 0 points.

Last time out, the Eagles had their seven-game winning streak snapped by Lenoir-Rhyne, falling 2-1 on Saturday. The Bears scored an 86th minute goal to win. Junior Carina Wust scored the goal in the 49th minute for the Eagles. She has scored in back-to-back games.

Sophomores Nellie Bryneus and Sydnee Duncan each have a team-high four goals scored this season. Seven other Eagles have scored multiple goals this season. 13 different players have scored for Simon Duffy's team.

Senior Addie Henry leads the team with five assists this season. She is tied for 5th in the SAC. Junior Abbie Zander follows in behind Henry with four assists of her own. Three of those assists came in the win over Bluefield State last week.

C-N still has the second-best attack in the conference. It averages more than two goals per game and nearly 20 shots per game as well.

Freshman Laura Germes is fifth in the SAC with a goals-against average mark at 0.82. She recorded a season and career-high six saves last time out.

The Eagles have been good at home. C-N has a home unbeaten streak of twelve games dating back to September of last season.

Under Duffy, the Eagles are 23-4-1 against the SAC at home. They are 3-0 so far this season.

Lincoln Memorial enters the midweek match with just one win in 2022. That win came in non-conference play on Sept 3 against Milligan. The team has scored ten goals this season, seven of those came in their only win.

The Railsplitters have been outscored 18-1 in their seven conference matchups this season.

Corrine Denton and Jordan Hellman each have scored two goals this season.

Bente Latenstein has started all ten matches in goal and has made 31 saves. She has a .554 save percentage and has allowed 25 goals this season.

LMU has had C-N's number as of late. Last year, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw, with the previous two meetings being LMU wins 2-1.
