Women’s Soccer places six on Academic All-District Team

GREENVILLE, Ind. - Carson-Newman women's soccer was well represented on the 2022 Academic All-District teams, as selected on by College Sports Communicators, and announced earlier today.

C-N totaled six selections. Graduate student Jente Kuper, senior Addie Henry, juniors Savannah Fields and Noel Criser and sophomores Nellie Bryneus and Sydnee Duncan.

Kuper was named to the All-SAC Second Team. It was her fifth second-team All-SAC selection. She played in 15 games, making 10 starts. Tied for the team lead with four goals scored. Scored the game-winner on Oct 12 in a 2-0 win over Lincoln Memorial. She helped anchor the defense as a center back, leading the Eagles to four clean sheets. Four of her six shots were on goal. 

Henry earned a second-team all-conference selection this season. It was her fourth consecutive season. Henry tied for the team lead in assists with five. She also scored three goals in her 17 games played. She scored or assisted on a goal in seven games this season.

Fields played in all 17 games for C-N this season, while making 12 starts. She scored two goals and had two assists this season. Her first goal of the year was a game winner against Mars Hill on September 28th. She assisted on C-N's go-ahead goal against Lincoln Memorial on October 12th.

Criser made 15 appearances, 14 of which were starts this season. She started 12 of C-N's final 13 games. She helped anchor the defense to four clean sheets. Criser recorded three shots, two of which came in a 5-0 win over Bluefield State on October 5th. The junior defender maintained a 4.0 GPA.

Bryneus was C-N's lone first team selection in the conference. It was her second All-SAC honor. She was one of three players to lead C-N in goals scored this year with four. Two of her four goals came in non-conference play. She scored or assisted on a goal in six games this season.

Duncan appeared in 15 games for C-N and tied for the team lead with four goals scored. Her two goals scored against Wingate on September 17th, earned her South Atlantic Conference offensive player of the week. 10 of her 23 shots were on goal this season. She has 12 career goals in two seasons with the Eagles. She maintained a 4.0 GPA.

The All-District award winners are recognized by CoSIDA as the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team honorees will be announced in early December.
